Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney was pleased to inaugurate the first
American culinary school in the Philippines in an October 20
ceremony. The American Hospitality Academy Philippines (AHA
Philippines) opened a school in Makati City this month, thanks to a
joint effort by Filipino and American investors. The school will
provide quality education and training in the field of hospitality
for Filipino culinary professionals.
More than 1,000
students from 100 academic institutions in the United States and
foreign countries participate annually in the Academy's
international training program. A network of hospitality educators
from prestigious universities around the world actively works with
the Academy as global training partners at schools such as the one
recently opened in the Philippines. Additionally, AHA works in
collaboration with American-based hospitality businesses whose
resort properties serve as practical training sites.
AHA’s mission is to
develop future hospitality leaders through practical training,
education, and cultural exchange while fostering international
understanding, goodwill and friendship.

students during the ceremony, where she remarked on how Filipinos
are making their mark globally in the culinary and hospitality
industry – including in the White House kitchen itself, which is run
by a Filipina chef. |
